Teddy Bear artist Martha Burch is keeping it fresh with a new and unique idea. This weekend she is holding a teddy bear and craft trunk show at her home in West Bend, Wis., and when the day is done the show will continue online. Burch said this is a new and different way to spread the word about some of her fellow artists and give people a way to shop without leaving their homes.

People within driving distance of Burch’s home are encouraged to attend the in-person trunk show, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Once that is completed, the items will go up for the online portion of the show, which will be held Sunday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (CST).

Burch encouraged many of her artist friends to send items to her home that could be displayed at the trunk show, so artists could be represented without actually being at the show. In addition to teddies, Burch received items from a wide array of talented artists, including jewelry pieces and Halloween accessories.

Online pieces may be purchased through PayPal and Burch will ship to buyers within three days of the show. If an item catches your eye but it has already been sold, collectors are encouraged to reach out to the artist anyway, and make arrangements to purchase an additional piece. All artist contact information is listed on her website, although Burch said she expects items to go fast, so if you have your eye on a special friend, don’t wait!

Some of the participating artists include Pat Berkowitch (Babcock Bears), Jane Monroe (C. Riffenberg Bear Co.), Peggy Fleming (Pleasant Ridge Collection), Gordon & Peggy Hayes (Unicorns & Dragons), and many others. In addition to the featured bear artists, Connie Brouilette will be selling jewelry, Adriana Esqueda will have a selection of art dolls, and Larry & Dona Ransom (Country Lane Creations) will have primitive mummies and more, just in time for Halloween.

More information and previews of pieces that will be available at the trunk show are available on Burch’s blog.
