Once again this holiday season, more than 20 local police, sheriff, state and federal law enforcement agencies throughout San Diego County will load up their patrol cars with stuffed animals and caravan from the U.S.S. Midway on Tuesday, December 10th at 8:30 am enroute with light and sirens to Rady Children’s Hospital.

Every year, more than 50,000 stuffed animals and teddy bears are dropped off at Rady Children’s Hospital. The goal is to keep the Hospital stocked all year long with new unused teddy bears and stuffed animals to hand out to patients.

In 1990, Coronado P.D. Officer Brian Hardy started the teddy bear drive. He drove to then Children’s Hospital to make a special delivery to children’s spending the holidays in the hospital. Since 1990, more than 1 million stuffed animals and teddy bears have been donated to Rady Children’s Hospital as part of the Teddy Bear Drive.


To donate a new, stuffed annimal or teddy bear, just go to any law enforcement agency and put it into the collection boxes.

The Chick-Fil-A in Sports Arena is hosting a Law Enforcement Night on November 14, from 5 -7 pm. Customers who drop-off a new stuffed animal or teddy bear are eligible to receive a free meal.
