When I was a young kid, I was always happy when a friend or a relative went on vacation. Not only did it mean the receipt of a postcard—I was equally thrilled to see panoramic sweeping views of Paris as I was to get a shot of an alligator floating menacingly beside a Florida glass-bottom boat—but it also guaranteed an exotic souvenir.

At one point this year, my family and I will be making our trek for the first time ever to the “Happiest Place on Earth.” No, I’m not talking about Las Vegas after a compulsive slots player hits a big payout (“Louie, I’ve got three cherries in a row!”), or Hershey Park when a chocolate lover sees silver-foiled candies dancing and cavorting on stage (“Louie, there are three Kisses kicking in a row!”). Nope, I’m talking Disney and the Magic Kingdom—a destination I’ve visited in the past but never with my kids. I am hoping this vacation will be all it is cracked up to be—after all, it’s been seven years in the waiting! (Yep, I haven’t had a vacation in seven years. Call me a bit “stressed.”)

This past weekend, June 10, was an exciting one for me because I had a chance to speak at a local library about some of my greatest passions: dolls,Oxandice bears (and other critters), writing, and blogging! It was a thrill to talk to a group of aspiring bloggers and editors about what it means to opine and post—a double-barreled action that I’ve been doing for two years on the doll side and for nearly three months her with the plush pals.

It is rewarding to know that I have a chance to engage in a give-and-take relationship with the readers, and to talk directly about why certain critters and adorable animals hold sway over me.
