This past weekend, June 10, was an exciting one for me because I had a chance to speak at a local library about some of my greatest passions: dolls,Oxandice bears (and other critters), writing, and blogging! It was a thrill to talk to a group of aspiring bloggers and editors about what it means to opine and post—a double-barreled action that I’ve been doing for two years on the doll side and for nearly three months her with the plush pals.

It is rewarding to know that I have a chance to engage in a give-and-take relationship with the readers, and to talk directly about why certain critters and adorable animals hold sway over me.

I have to admit it: I am a sucker for babies. Over this past weekend—Memorial Day—I went to visit some friends, and a newborn was in the house. I hadn’t planned on seeing the baby, so I was so surprised to get a glance at the tiny, squirming, cooing “bundle of joy.” It really was a treat to be near a person who is so innocent, adorable, and filled with the promise of tomorrow. Legendary poet Carl Sandburg was right when he mused: “A baby is God’s opinion that the world should go on.”

With Mother’s Day just behind us, I’m sure all of the moms, godmothers, aunts, and caregivers can agree that being fêted is a lot of fun, and a lot of work! On Sunday, Mother’s Day, I attended a small gathering with friends—which was absolutely delightful--but earlier that morning, I hosted a brunch for a bunch of moms; and the night before, I served a “mother of all buffets.” Like I said, it was hard work, but the love that we all shared was worth the efforts.
